Racism
Using the school Rules and Anti‑Bullying Strategy against Racism
Racism is a form of bullying. When we use both our school rules and our Anti-bullying strategy together, children know what kind of people they should be and what actions to take if something happens.
At our school, we take a clear and proactive stance against racism by combining our core values—Be Wise, Be Kind—with our anti‑bullying strategy No, Go, Tell.
“Be Wise” encourages students to recognise racism, think carefully about their actions, and understand why hurtful language and behaviour are unacceptable.
“Be Kind” reinforces our commitment to respect, inclusion, and compassion for every member of our community.
When unkind or racist behaviour does occur, No, Go, Tell provides a simple, safe response: say No by firmly telling the person to stop, Go by walking away from the situation, and Tell a trusted adult so the behaviour can be addressed.
Together, these approaches create a culture where every member of the school community feels valued, supported, and empowered to stand up against racism.
We actively celebrate our differences, recognising that diversity makes our school richer, stronger, and more vibrant.
We have a zero tolerance approach to racism.
As part of our continuing work on racism the whole school have completed posters linked to our slogan. Each class has had circle time sessions and discussions about what racism is and why it is wrong. Here is a selection of our ongoing work.
