At our school, we are committed to giving children a rich, balanced, and inclusive understanding of world faiths and world views as part of our Religious Education curriculum. Our aim is to help pupils develop respect, curiosity, and appreciation for the diverse beliefs and traditions that shape communities locally, nationally, and globally. Through carefully planned lessons, discussions, and experiential learning, the children explore major world religions, encounter a variety of lived experiences, and deepen their understanding of how faith influences daily life, values, and culture.

We have been particularly fortunate to work in partnership with the Open Centre in Derby, whose specialist educators have supported us in bringing these topics to life. Their workshops provide hands‑on opportunities for pupils to engage with authentic artefacts, listen to personal stories, ask thoughtful questions, and experience the richness of different faith traditions in meaningful ways. These visits and sessions greatly enhance our curriculum by helping children connect classroom learning with real-world people, places, and practices.

Our collaboration with the Open Centre strengthens our commitment to fostering tolerance, empathy, and understanding, ensuring that all pupils not only learn about religion but also build the skills and attitudes needed to live harmoniously in a diverse society.
