Anti‑Bullying at Harworth Church of England Academy

At Harworth Church of England Academy, we are committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive environment where every child is free from the fear of bullying. Guided by our Christian vision to “gain a heart of wisdom”, we teach children to treat one another with compassion, respect and courage. Bullying of any kind is not tolerated and is taken seriously.

We define bullying as repeated, intentional behaviour that causes harm and involves an imbalance of power, whether it happens face‑to‑face or online. If bullying is suspected or reported, staff respond promptly, support all children involved and work closely with parents and carers to ensure concerns are listened to and acted upon. We encourage pupils to use our NO! GO! TELL! approach and urge parents and carers to contact the class teacher with any concerns so that issues can be resolved quickly and effectively.

What should parents and carers do if they feel their child is being bullied?

If you are concerned that your child may be experiencing bullying, please contact your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. If you believe the issue is bullying, it will be referred to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, who is always informed of bullying concerns and will monitor the situation carefully. The school will work closely with you and your child to ensure that the bullying is stopped and that appropriate support is put in place. Parents and carers are asked not to approach other children or their families directly, as this can make the situation more difficult. If you feel your concern has not been resolved, the school’s complaints procedure can be followed.
