Christian values
At Harworth Church of England Academy, our Christian values of:
Courage
Peace
Wisdom
Faithfulness
Kindness
Hope
Our Christian values are rooted in our vision to “Gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12) and are at the heart of everything we do. These values are thoughtfully woven through our curriculum, shaping learning experiences, relationships and personal development across the school. They underpin daily life by guiding behaviour, decision‑making and how we care for one another, ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and supported to flourish. Our values form the basis of collective worship, where Bible stories and reflection help pupils understand how faith and values can be lived out in practical ways. Through lessons, worship, pupil leadership opportunities and everyday interactions, children are encouraged to demonstrate our values in action, developing compassion, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility as part of our school family and the wider world.
Using books linked to our Christian values helps bring our vision to life.
We carefully choose high-quality texts that reflect our Christian values – courage, peace, wisdom, faithfulness, kindness and hope. Through powerful stories such as Cogheart and The Boy at the Back of the Class, children explore big questions about character, choices, empathy and perseverance. These books help children make meaningful connections between learning, faith and daily life, supporting them to grow academically, morally and spiritually as they seek to gain a heart of wisdom.

Our choice of Bible stories is purposeful and rooted in our Christian vision.
We carefully select stories from the Bible that clearly reflect our six Christian values of courage, peace, wisdom, faithfulness, kindness and hope. These stories help children understand how Christian values are lived out through faith, character and action. By exploring Bible stories alongside discussion, worship and reflection, children are supported to make meaningful connections between belief and everyday life, helping them to grow spiritually and to gain a heart of wisdom.
